Could a business you know provide a welcoming space?
In 2023, 44* people in Salford took their own lives. Across the UK, more than 74%* of suicides are among men. The cost of living crisis has only added to the pressure — and too many men are struggling in silence.
That’s why we’ve launched Salford Manbassadors: a new network of local businesses supporting men’s mental health at a community level.
We’re asking for your help. If you know a local business owner who cares about making a difference, please share this opportunity with them. Together, we can create safe spaces, raise awareness, and help men across Salford feel less alone.

Salford Red Devils Foundation has become Salford’s first official Manbassador
We’re proud to announce that the Salford Red Devils Foundation has become Salford’s first official Manbassador as part of the Salford Manbassadors scheme, which we launched on World Mental Health Day (10 October).
This project aims to tackle male suicide and support men’s mental health by creating a network of local organisations where men can find safe spaces to talk, listen, and seek help.
As Salford’s first Manbassador, Salford Red Devils will be launching a 16 week health and wellbeing programme focused on:
– Physical fitness
– Positive mental wellbeing
– Healthy eating
Participants will also have the chance to meet Salford Red Devils players, who are proudly supporting this vital initiative!
You can read the full story here.

Big congratulations to 94.4FM Salford City Radio, our Springboard Heroes 2025 winner!

Energy saving tips
Ofgem has announced that the energy price cap for October to December 2025 is set to increase by 2%. This means that typical energy bills for homes in Great Britain will go up to £1,755 a year for those who pay by direct debit.
As autumn approaches, now is a great time to manage your energy usage and save money! Here are some tips that could help you reduce your bills by up to £351 a year.
Tip 1: Instead of using a tumble dryer, try drying your clothes outside or on a drying rack.
This could save you about £50 a year and is also gentler on your clothes!
Tip 2: Take shorter showers
Try to keep your showers to 4 minutes — this could save you about £45 a year on your energy bills.
With energy prices going up and colder weather on the way, now’s a good time to look at small ways to use less energy and save money.
You could use a shower timer or play a 4-minute song to help keep track!
Tip 3: Switch things off properly
Leaving devices like TVs and game consoles on standby still uses electricity. Turning them off at the wall could save you around £45 a year.
You can also use a standby saver – a simple gadget that lets you switch off several devices at once.
It’s an easy way to cut your energy use without changing your routine!
Tip 4: Only boil what you need
Only boil the amount of water you need. It could save you £10 a year. You can also fit a tap aerator to reduce water use and save another £20 a year.
Tip 5: Wash clothes on cooler settings
Wash at 30°C instead of higher temperatures and try to do one less load each week. This could save you £27 a year.
Your clothes still get clean, and you save money.
Tip 6: Swap one bath a week for a shower
Just switching one bath for a 4-minute shower each week can save you £10 a year. It’s better for your bills and the environment.
Tip 7: Turn off the lights
Get into the habit of turning off lights when you leave a room. It can save you around £8 a year. Switching to LED bulbs can save even more.
