About Salix Homes

An award-winning housing association, providing social and affordable homes and housing services across Salford

Salix Homes owns and manages over 8,000 homes in Salford, which comprises a real mix of properties including tower blocks, large housing estates and sheltered housing complexes.

We employ more than 300 people in a huge range of roles from repairs operatives, caretakers and estate management officers out in our communities, to customer service advisors and teams who help the smooth running of the organisation.

We’re a not-for-profit charitable organisation, which means we can invest any profits straight back into our homes and communities.

The Salix Homes that we are today was established in 2015 when our residents voted for us to take over ownership of their homes from Salford City Council in a stock transfer, which we previously used to manage on their behalf.

Through our Willo Homes affordable home ownership brand, and Hive Homes partnership, we’re delivering even more affordable housing options around Salford and Greater Manchester.

We work with specialist partner organisations to provide jobs, training opportunities and support for local people, to help with their personal development and wellbeing. We also fund a range of local projects and initiatives that benefit the wider community.
