Join Pride in Place and celebrate Salford through music
June is Pride month – a month dedicated to celebrating LGBTQ+ communities all around the world.
Residents are invited to take part in ‘Pride in Place’, a new music project celebrating what Salford means to the people who live here.
Delivered in partnership with First Kick Foundation and funded by the Salford Centenary Fund, the project will bring together older residents living in sheltered housing to share stories, memories and ideas through music.
Across six friendly workshops, participants will work together to create a new piece of music inspired by Salford. The final track will be recorded and professionally produced, made available to download and shared at a celebration event for other residents to enjoy.
Workshop dates and locations
Broomedge Court, Salford, M7 4EJ
- Monday 20 and 27 July
- Monday 3, 10, 17 and 24 August
Longbow Court, Broughton Ln, Salford M7 1XY
- Tuesday 21 and 28 July
- Tuesday 4, 11, 18 and 25 August
Heraldic Court, Salford, M6 6SL
- Wednesday 22 and 29 July
- Wednesday 5, 12, 19 and 26 August
All workshops take place between 10:30am – 12:30pm and refreshments will be provided.
Who can take part?
No musical experience is needed. Residents simply need to bring their enthusiasm, stories and an interest in meeting new people. It is a great opportunity to get involved, celebrate the local community and help create something special for Salford.

Spaces are limited, so residents are encouraged to reserve their place in advance. To book or ask a question, contact Wendy Woodfine at wendy.woodfine@salixhomes.co.uk or P. Boyle at P.Boyle@firstkickfoundation.org.
For customers living in our high-rise and low-rise buildings:
Think before you smoke or vape
Smoking, vaping and drug use are not allowed in communal areas of your building. This includes corridors, stairwells, entrances, lifts and other shared spaces, which must remain smoke-free by law.
Smoking or vaping in these areas can set off the fire alarm, forcing residents to leave their homes and taking emergency services away from real emergencies. It also increases the risk of fire for everyone living in the building. A false alarm attendance by the fire service can cost more than £500.
If you smoke or vape in communal areas, you could receive a tenancy warning or face legal action.
Please help keep your building safe by only smoking or vaping in permitted outdoor areas.
To report someone smoking or vaping in a communal area, contact our Building Safety Team:
Help us tackle fly-tipping

Fly-tipping ruins our neighbourhoods and costs money that could be better spent improving our homes and services.
In 2025, we spent more than £120,000 removing 553 tonnes of illegally dumped rubbish from across our communities.
If you see someone fly-tipping, please report it to us. Working together, we can help keep our neighbourhoods clean, safe and welcoming for everyone.
Remember, fly-tipping is a criminal offence and offenders could face fines of up to £50,000.
Report fly-tipping through MySalix or call 0800 218 2000.
Got furniture to recycle?

If you have furniture you no longer need, why not donate it through our Furniture Recycling Scheme?
Since we launched the scheme in July 2019, we have delivered more than 3,000 items to people who need them most.
We accept all kinds of furniture and appliances, including sofas, bed frames, wardrobes, tables and chairs, as well as electrical items, home accessories and toys. Some items can’t be donated, including clothes, shoes, car seats, gas cookers and petrol-powered items.

100 new affordable homes to mark a century of Salford as a city

Willohaus, a collection of 100 affordable, Passivhaus Classic certified homes, has welcomed its first residents, marking a major milestone for Crescent Salford and the wider city as it celebrates 100 years since being granted city status.
The new high-quality homes are the first to be completed in Adelphi Village, one aspect of the Crescent Salford masterplan being delivered by Salford City Council, the University of Salford and ECF, a partnership between Homes England, L&G and Muse. Salix Homes is the housing partner for Willohaus and we own and manage the new homes.
Designed to Passivhaus standards, residents of the one and two-bedroomed apartments will benefit from significantly reduced energy bills compared to traditional housing.
A mum and her young daughter are amongst the first residents to move in at Willohaus.
The pair, who we’re keeping anonymous, are looking forward to a fresh start after spending the past 18 months living in temporary accommodation when they were left with nowhere to live following a family relationship breakdown.
Salix Homes’ latest sustainable social housing development reaches highest point
Construction of a highly sustainable social housing development exclusively for older people in Salford has reached its highest point, marking a major milestone for the project.
The new Passivhaus-certified ‘independent living scheme’ has now officially topped out, with roof works completed on both buildings. Once finished, it will provide 69 new homes for social rent for people aged over 55, alongside a new GP surgery for NHS Greater Manchester, which will be a valuable addition to the local community.
Reminder: Plug-in solar panels: important safety advice

Plug-in solar panels are small systems designed to connect directly to a standard household socket. While they may seem like a simple way to save energy, they can pose serious safety risks in flats and high-rise buildings.
Salix Homes does not allow plug-in solar panels in our high-rise homes and we are not endorsing or promoting their use.
These products can increase the risk of fire and electrical faults.
Fire hazards: Faults or incorrect use can cause overheating and fires.
Electrical faults: Most homes’ electrical systems are not compatible with plug-in solar, increasing the risk of circuit overload or malfunction.
They also offer only limited savings on energy bills compared with other energy efficiency measures.
Salix Homes is committed to sustainability and supporting our customers with the cost of living. We are working hard to improve the energy efficiency of all our homes across Salford to help reduce energy costs for our customers and address fuel poverty wherever possible.
If you are struggling with energy costs, our Income Management Team can offer advice, support and signposting to relevant services. Call 0800 218 2000 or email enquiries@salixhomes.co.uk.
