Protect your home and everything in it – Affordable Home Contents Insurance for Salix Homes customers

A living room with sofa, armchair and TVDid you know? Your rent doesn’t include insurance for your personal belongings, furniture, or carpets. If they’re damaged or stolen, replacing them could cost you hundreds, if not thousands of pounds. That’s why we recommend considering home contents insurance.

With a tenants’ contents insurance policy, your items can be protected against:

• Fire
• Vandalism
• Water damage
• Theft

You can also choose to add accidental damage cover for extra peace of mind.

We’ve partnered with one of the UK’s largest insurers to bring you a low-cost insurance plan that can be paid in weekly instalments. Key benefits include:

• No excess – nothing to pay if you make a claim
• New-for-old replacement (excluding clothing and household linen)
• Cover for items rented from weekly payment stores

This insurance is available to all Salix Homes tenants and leaseholders. Find out how to apply by clicking the button below:

Message to high-rise customers: Parking

A row of parked carsWe appreciate your ongoing feedback and would like to address an important topic: parking around our high-rise buildings.

As part of our commitment to maintaining building safety, we ask you to keep hatched areas surrounding the buildings clear at all times. These zones are vital for allowing emergency vehicles to access our properties quickly in the event of an emergency.

Please note: If we identify a vehicle parked in a hatched area or blocking another vehicle, our 1st Response Team will reach out to the owner for immediate removal. We take building safety seriously, and this is a 24-hour responsibility, so a call could occur during the night.

We understand that sometimes there aren’t enough parking spaces, but we kindly ask all customers to park considerately to help us keep our community safe.

Thank you for your cooperation.

Our teams worked hard in XXXXXXXXXX neighbourhoods to help clean up communities and connect with customers.

Building Safety Week

A block of flatsBuilding Safety Week is 23-27 June and we want to take the opportunity to share that we recently became one of the first housing associations in the country – and the first in Greater Manchester – to receive a Building Assessment Certificate (BAC) from the Building Safety Regulator (BSR), for Nine Acre Court in Salford.

The BAC marks a major milestone under the new building safety regime which was established in response to the Grenfell Tower tragedy.

It places new legal duties on landlords to actively manage and prove the safety of high-rise residential buildings, particularly in relation to the risk of fire and structural failure.

The certification confirms that Nine Acre Court meets the stringent requirements and is considered safe for occupation. It also provides further assurance to our customers, visitors, and the wider public about the safety of the building.

Funding boost to make homes greener and cheaper to run

A block of flats overlooking the Salford skylineGreat Big Green Week (7-15 June) from The Climate Coalition is a national celebration of community action to tackle climate change and care for our environment, and we’re proud to share some exciting news that’s helping us do just that!

We’ve recently secured £364,000 in grant funding to help us deliver a range of energy efficiency measures to 50 homes across Salford, including the installation of air source heat pumps, making homes warmer, greener, and more affordable to run.

It’s a huge step forward in our journey towards net zero, and reflects our commitment to improving lives and protecting the planet.
