We’re here for you
When times get tough, we look out for each other. Our mission is to promote men’s mental health through support and wellbeing activities.
If you could do with some support, our team at Salix Homes is here for you. You don’t need to be a Salix Homes customer for us to help.

Salford Manbassadors
Manbassadors are shops, businesses or clubs who look out for their male customers, engage in conversations, and tell them about further support options where appropriate.
Salix Homes is building a network of local organisations across Salford to act as men’s health advocates, to engage with and support the men they meet, and to put them in touch with us.
We can help men access the services and support they need in simple but effective ways.
Our Salford Manbassadors aim to:
• Help put men in touch with services that can support their mental health
• Raise awareness locally of the mental health issues facing men
• Develop a network of men's social and community activities across Salford
• Create safe spaces for men to be able to talk about mental wellbeing
• Grow a network of men’s health advocates across Salford
Your questions answered...
Manbassadors are men’s health advocates – they’re shops, clubs, or other local businesses, who look out for their customers, engage in conversations, and talk about further support options where appropriate.
The aim of the Manbassadors project is to tackle high rates of male suicide and mental health issues. Our Manbassadors are reaching out to men with a simple intervention of an informal, bite-sized support delivered on a local level.
Whether it’s a pub, café, barber, gym, or takeaway — local people-facing businesses, and organisations can play a part by becoming a Manbassador.
Manbassadors look out for customers or members and let them know they’re not alone. They can raise awareness of men’s mental health issues, and signpost them to us and further support where appropriate.
The Manbassadors project was launched to help raise awareness of men’s wellbeing, and tackle high rates of male suicide.
- One in six adults (over 16) are experiencing common mental health problems at any one time.
- In the UK, men are only around half as likely as women to access psychological therapies, and it’s also believed they are less likely to speak to family or friends about mental health issues.
- Every week, 125 people in the UK take their own lives.
- Three in four people who die by suicide are male.
- Suicide is the single biggest killer of men under 45 in the UK.
Manbassadors are the heartbeat of our men’s mental health project.
We’re looking to recruit new businesses, groups, clubs, and organisations to help us connect with men who may need support.
We’ll ask that you:
- Be an ambassador for men’s mental health.
- Look out for your male customers.
- Have a chat and hand out our leaflet.
- Display our leaflets, posters, and other promotional materials.
- If you can, connect with other local small or medium businesses, to build the Manbassador network and share ideas.
What we offer to you:
- A listing on our Manbassadors webpage.
- A welcome pack.
- Promotional materials.
- Access to free non-accredited training.
You can volunteer to support the Manbassadors project as an individual.
For more information on volunteering with us, please send us an email.
We’re building up our Salford Manbassador network and will be listing them all here soon.
