New repairs hub opens in Salford

A brand new repairs hub has opened in Salford, supporting Salix Homes in delivering a more reliable and efficient repairs service.

Travis Perkins Managed Services, the leading materials supplier to social housing providers, has opened a state-of-the-art depot in Weaste, Salford, to support our repairs and maintenance teams with parts, materials, training facilities, and on-site recycling areas to help manage waste sustainably.

The hub gives our operatives quicker access to the parts they need to maintain and repair Salix Homes’ 8,000 properties across Salford. Replacing our older, smaller repairs depot, it is a purpose-built facility with space for a much larger stock supply for construction, maintenance, and repairs, as well as equipment hire – all on one site.

As part of the partnership with Travis Perkins Managed Services, the hub also introduces a modern stock management and ordering system to replace the previous manual process, making it quicker and easier to request, track and collect materials.

Using the new ‘TPgo’ app, our operatives can order materials digitally while out on a job, ensuring items are ready and waiting at the hub. This reduces follow-on repair visits, cuts waiting times, and helps more jobs get completed on the first visit.

Since introducing the digital parts ordering service this summer, the proportion of repairs completed on the first visit has increased from 62% to 94%.

Liam Turner, Chief Executive at Salix Homes, said: “This new hub is a real step forward for our repairs service. It gives our operatives the tools and resources they need to complete more jobs on the first visit, helping us provide a faster, more efficient service for our customers.

“Our long-standing and trusted partnership with Travis Perkins Managed Services has been central to making this possible. Their expertise and support, combined with our commitment to modern, sustainable ways of working – from digital ordering to on-site recycling – means we can continue improving our repairs service for our customers.”

Ben Todd, Managing Director at Travis Perkins Managed Services, added: “It’s great that we can continue to build our trusted partnership with Salix Homes. The hub will arm Salix Homes operatives working on social housing with everything they need to improve the lives of their residents. The addition of TPgo means they will be able to make big efficiencies in their processes too.”

The new repairs hub, located on James Corbett Road, Weaste, complements wider improvements already made to our repairs service this year, including expanded appointment times, extra operatives, an upgraded MySalix portal, and virtual inspections, all designed to make reporting and completing repairs easier and more convenient for customers.
