Are you eligible for the Warm Home Discount Scheme?

If you’re struggling to keep up with your electricity bills this winter, you’ll be happy to hear about the Warm Home Discount Scheme. With this scheme, you could get £150 off your electricity bill for winter 2023 to 2024.

The discount is a one-time discount and will be applied directly to your electricity bill between early October 2023 and 31 March 2024. You will usually receive the discount automatically if you are eligible.

Don’t worry if you’re not sure whether you’re eligible or not – if you may be eligible, you will get a letter by early January 2024. If you don’t get a letter and think you are eligible, you should contact the Warm Home Discount Scheme before the 29 February 2024.

If your energy supplier provides you with both gas and electricity, you may also be eligible to receive the discount on your gas bill. Just get in touch with your supplier to find out.

The discount will not affect your Cold Weather Payment or Winter Fuel Payment.

Am I Eligible?

Eligibility for the Warm Home Discount Scheme depends on where you live. As a resident in England, you can qualify if you either get the Guarantee Credit element of Pension Credit or are on a low income and have high energy costs.

If you use a pre-pay or pay-as-you-go electricity meter, you can still qualify for the discount. Your electricity supplier will be able to tell you how you will receive the discount if you are eligible, for example, a voucher you can use to top up your meter.

If you live in a park home, you will need to apply for the Park Homes Warm Home Discount.
