Salix Homes helps Coronation Street set the scene

Programme makers have been filming at Bourne House on Amersham Street in Pendleton, which has been used as the fictional home of a new character played by Les Dennis.

The property is managed by Salix Homes – and we were delighted to welcome Coronation Street to film scenes for an upcoming storyline.

Stars from the show including Helen Worth, who plays Gail McIntyre, Jack P Shepherd, who plays David Platt, and Ben Price, who plays Nick Tilsley, joined Les Dennis on set to film their scenes.

Coronation Street has recently located its set from Granada Studios in Manchester to Media City on Salford Quays and programme makers approached Salix Homes when they were looking for a nearby location to film some external scenes.

Sue Sutton, chief executive at Salix Homes, said: Coronation Street is a national institution and the fictional town of Weatherfield is supposed to be in Salford, so we were thrilled to let them film some scenes in one of our properties.

Salix Homes does in fact have a rather interesting connection with ‘Corrie’ anyway. The real Coronation Street on the New Barracks Estate in Ordsall is in the heart of one of our estates and is said to have been the inspiration for the name behind the world famous soap opera.

With Media City on our doorstep, Salford is quickly becoming a really desirable location for film and programme makers and we can’t wait to see our property brought to life in Coronation Street.

The scenes will be aired on Wednesday, July 2, Thursday, July, 3, Friday, July 4 and Monday, July 7.

Revenue raised from the filming is being used by Salix Homes to fund a garden project at nearby Lark Hill Primary School in Pendleton.
