Salix Homes teams up with Foundation 92 for employment initiative

20 July, 2021

Foundation 92 have launched a brand-new Community Employability programme, funded by seven housing associations across Salford, including Salix Homes.

Thanks to the support of Clarion Futures, ForHousing, Great Places, Irwell Valley Foundation, Onward Homes, Pendleton Together and Salix Homes, the Foundation can offer this development-focused programme.

The programme will be running in East Salford, Langworthy, Seedley, and Little Hulton and will help members of the community who are looking to gain valuable employment skills.

Over a six-month period, the programme is aiming to support 30 individuals with employment through the delivery of specialist mentoring and skill-based support classes.

Free of charge, the programme will be tailored to suit the needs of those taking part, in order to provide those individuals with the greatest chance of improving and thriving.

Head of Foundation 92 Tom Hutton said: “Foundation 92 would like to thank each partner who has contributed to this exciting and highly impactful project.

“Throughout the pandemic, many people have faced significant challenges associated with gaining employment.

“This programme will support individuals in a person-centred manner to develop the skills required to achieve their potential.”

Jackie Crook, skills and work manager at Salix Homes, said: "We aim to be more than just a housing provider, we strive to provide opportunities for tenants to help them improve their lives, so we’re thrilled to be working alongside Foundation 92 and other local landlords on another inspiring project to support people living in our communities.

“This programme provides a fantastic opportunity for tenants to learn new skills, grow in confidence and enhance their employment prospects, and we look forward to working with our partners to help break down those barriers that might be preventing people from accessing employment or training and support them to reach their full potential.”
