Salix Homes supports Salford gymnasts
Budding young gymnasts will soon be flying high after securing funding for a new vaulting block.
Salford School of Gymnastics, which has been running for more than 25 years, has secured £800 from Salix Homes through our community grant programme Springboard.
The cash boost has helped the club to purchase a new vaulting block, enabling its members to practice the difficult art of vaulting – a discipline they’d previously been unable to take part in.
Gymnastics coach Zara Gallichan said: “I took over the gymnastics club just over two years ago, and have loved seeing the kids go from strength to strength. The new block will help us raise our game in competitions, as well as entering new competitions in which vaulting is required.”
The club runs classes in Higher Broughton for around 300 children, entering competitions up and down the country.
Ben Cruickshanks, neighbourhood manager for Salix Homes, added: “We’re really proud to support the Salford School of Gymnastics through our Springboard fund.
“Gymnastics is a great sport for kids to get involved in as it gets them active, promotes confidence and helps build up a healthy sense of competition, and we look forward to hearing all about the team’s successes in upcoming vaulting events.”
Since launching Springboard last year, Salix Homes has donated more than £50,000 to local projects and groups that boost community spirit, promote health and wellbeing, reduce isolation or improve the environment.
