A month of Pride
June is Pride month – a month dedicated to celebrating LGBTQ+ communities all around the world.
Here in Salford there have already been celebrations!
On Saturday 13 June 2026, Salix Homes celebrated 15 years of Pride in Salford with Pink Picnic.
This community event celebrates LGBTQ+ people across Salford with live entertainment, activities and a great festival atmosphere.
Salix Homes is proud to have been a founding partner of the Pink Picnic since its launch in 2011. This year, a grant of £2,000 from our Springboard Community Fund helped to support the event at Peel Park.
Our team were there sharing information about our men’s mental health project, Salford Manbassadors, and careers at Salix Homes.
Join us at Weaste Pride
On Saturday 11 July, we’ll be at Weaste Pride – an event raising money for Jak’s World Charity.
It’s promised to be a day of fun, music and community spirit with free entry for everyone.
Where: Weaste and Seedley Social Club, 168A Weaste Lane, M5 5JL
When: From 1pm
We look forward to seeing you there!
Join Pride in Place and celebrate Salford through music
Residents are invited to take part in ‘Pride in Place’, a new music project celebrating what Salford means to the people who live here.
Delivered in partnership with First Kick Foundation and funded by the Salford Centenary Fund, the project will bring together older residents living in sheltered housing to share stories, memories and ideas through music.
Across six friendly workshops, participants will work together to create a new piece of music inspired by Salford. The final track will be recorded and professionally produced, made available to download and shared at a celebration event for other residents to enjoy.
Workshop dates and locations:
Broomedge Court, Salford, M7 4EJ
• Monday 20 and 27 July
• Monday 3, 10, 17 and 24 August
Longbow Court, Broughton Lane, Salford M7 1XY
• Tuesday 21 and 28 July
• Tuesday 4, 11, 18 and 25 August
Heraldic Court, Salford, M6 6SL
• Wednesday 22 and 29 July
• Wednesday 5, 12, 19 and 26 August
Who can take part?
No musical experience is needed. Residents simply need to bring their enthusiasm, stories and an interest in meeting new people. It’s a great opportunity to get involved, celebrate the local community and help create something special for Salford.

Plug-in solar panels: important safety advice
Plug-in solar panels are small systems designed to connect directly to a standard household socket. While they may seem like a simple way to save energy, they can pose serious safety risks in flats and high-rise buildings.
Salix Homes does not allow plug-in solar panels in our high-rise homes and we are not endorsing or promoting their use.
These products can increase the risk of fire and electrical faults.
Fire hazards: Faults or incorrect use can cause overheating and fires.
Electrical faults: Most homes’ electrical systems are not compatible with plug-in solar, increasing the risk of circuit overload or malfunction.
They also offer only limited savings on energy bills compared with other energy efficiency measures.
Salix Homes is committed to sustainability and supporting our customers with the cost of living. We are working hard to improve the energy efficiency of all our homes across Salford to help reduce energy costs for our customers and address fuel poverty wherever possible.
If you are struggling with energy costs, our Income Management Team can offer advice, support and signposting to relevant services. Call 0800 218 2000 or email enquiries@salixhomes.co.uk.
