New Executive Director appointed
Salix Homes has appointed a new Executive Director to our leadership team.
We’re pleased to announce Sarah Henderson as our new Executive Director of Business Services and Improvement, with strategic responsibility for business transformation, operational performance and data and insight.
Sarah has worked at Salix Homes for 18 years, most recently as Director of People and Inclusion. She’s been a driving force in shaping our organisation – helping to embed our values, strengthen our culture, and lead positive change.
She first joined our organisation in 2007 as HR Manager, before working her way through the ranks and joining the Senior Leadership Team in 2011.
Sarah said: “I’m incredibly proud to continue my journey with Salix Homes as part of the Executive Management Team. Having spent the majority of my career here, I’ve seen the organisation evolve and grow, and I’m looking forward to playing a part in its next chapter.
“This is a pivotal moment for Salix Homes as we develop and deliver our next Corporate Plan for 2025 and beyond. I’m excited to draw upon my experience to help drive forward our ambitions for innovation, transformation and continuous improvement, always keeping our people, both customers and colleagues, at the heart of everything we do – from shaping our culture to improving how we work and the services we provide.”
In her new role, Sarah will oversee several key areas of the business including People Services, Health and Safety, Marketing and Communications, ICT and Cyber Security, Customer Insight and Data Analysis and Colleague Culture and Engagement.
Sarah’s appointment forms part of a wider leadership transition at Salix Homes. Liam Turner recently stepped into the role of Chief Executive, following the upcoming retirement of Sue Sutton, who is continuing in an interim role to help ensure a smooth handover and continuity. Recruitment is also underway for the role of Executive Director of Customer and Landlord Services, which will then complete the new-look, four-strong Executive Management team, alongside Eric Tamanis, Executive Director of Finance and Growth.
Our CEO Liam added: “Sarah brings a wealth of experience, a strong connection to our values, and a deep understanding of our people and purpose.
“As we look to the future, Sarah’s leadership will help us build on the strong progress we’ve made, bringing both continuity and fresh perspectives. Her appointment reinforces our commitment to stability while ensuring we continue to innovate, improve our services, and stay focused on what matters most to our customers, colleagues and communities.”
Last year Salix Homes became one of the first housing associations in the country to achieve the highest possible C1 grading under the new Consumer Standards in recognition of our high-quality homes and services.
This year, 2025, also marks our 10-year anniversary as a stand-alone housing association, following a stock transfer from Salford City Council in 2015. Since then, we have invested £235 million building new homes and improving existing homes and communities.
