Salford's female footballers top the league

As World Cup fever grips the nation, we’ve been celebrating the success of a team much closer to home.

Barr Hill Ladies FC have beat the odds to finish top of the Manchester FA Division Two Cup league earning themselves a well-earned promotion to Division One.

Salix Homes is a proud supporter of the ladies’ side, having previously funded their new away kit as part of our Springboard community grant programme.

And we think the Salix Homes strip might be something of a lucky charm, as the team goes from strength to strength.

Mick Walsh, neighbourhood manager for Salix Homes, said: “Despite only forming 18 months ago as a way for local women to get fit and have fun, Barr Hill Ladies FC have certainly proved they’ve got the winning formula.

“Their success is testament to the skill and dedication of its organisers and players, and Salix Homes is really proud to support them and we wish them the best of luck as they move up into the next division.”

Since launching last year, we have donated more than £50,000 to local groups and projects in Salford as part of ourSpringboard scheme, which supports local groups and projects that boost community spirit, promote health and wellbeing, reduce isolation or improve the environment.
