Salix Homes backs Salford social value campaign

Salix Homes is backing a campaign to make Salford a better place.

We have signed up to the 10% Better in Salford Campaign organised by the Salford Social Value Alliance, which is a partnership between the public sector, the private sector and the voluntary community and social enterprise sectors, aimed at producing more social value in the city.

The campaign encourages local groups, businesses and organisations to pledge to make a 10% improvement in their social, environmental and economic outputs for the benefit of Salford and its people.

By 2021, Salix Homes has pledged to:

  • Reduce fuel costs for a further 10% of our residents (approx 800) through our energy efficiency programme.
  • Increase our spend with local contractors by 10% (approx £100,000) helping to keep more money in Salford.
  • Increase our affordable housing supply by 10% (approx 800 homes)
  • Increase our Community Grant Programme Springboard by 10% from £100,000 per annum currently to £110,000, through inward investment.
  • Increase the number of local people we employ by 10% (from 128 currently to 140)

Sue Sutton, executive director of operations at Salix Homes, said: “Salix Homes is very proud to support the fantastic 10% Better in Salford campaign and the work of the Salford Social Value Alliance.

“The power of social value cannot be underestimated and can be used to tackle poverty and equality in our city and ultimately change people’s lives for the better.

“We know that Salford is already a fantastic place to live and work and the people of this city have a lot to be proud of, but by working together to make small changes in our own operations, collectively we can make a real difference and make Salford an even better place for everyone.”
