Salix Homes launches new corporate plan – The Salix Way 2026-2029
Salix Homes has launched a new three-year corporate plan – The Salix Way – setting out our ambitions to deliver safe, sustainable and high-quality homes and services that make a real difference to people’s lives.
The plan reflects our culture and values, guided by our vision to provide more than good quality, affordable homes – we will support our customers and colleagues to achieve their potential, ensuring everything we do as an organisation will be for the benefit of our communities.
The new plan comes at a time when the housing sector and our communities continue to face significant challenges, including the cost-of-living crisis, a shortage of affordable homes, evolving regulation and the ongoing impact of climate change.
Salix Homes remains committed to responding proactively to the challenges we face, modernising how we operate, delivering greater value, and continuing to provide a housing service that Salford can be proud of.
The corporate plan is centred around five key themes: Our Customers, Our Colleagues, Our Homes, Our Communities and Our Business – each setting out clear ambitions for the future.
The launch of The Salix Way coincides with Liam Turner’s first year anniversary as CEO. He said: “The Salix Way is more than a plan – it captures the way we do things at Salix Homes. It’s built into how we work, how we make decisions, and how we deliver for our customers, colleagues and communities every day.
“As my first corporate plan as Chief Executive, it marks an important milestone for both myself, and for Salix Homes. It has been shaped collaboratively with our Board, our customers, and colleagues across the organisation to reflect a shared vision and deep commitment to the people and communities we serve.
“Our focus is clear – we want our customers to feel valued and supported, our homes to be safe and sustainable, our colleagues to be empowered and successful, and our neighbourhoods to be places where people feel connected and proud to live.”
The plan builds on more than a decade of progress since Salix Homes became a stand-alone housing association in 2015, following a stock transfer from Salford City Council.
Since then, we have built 560 new homes and invested more than £235million building new homes and improving existing homes and communities. We were also one of the first housing associations in the country to achieve the highest C1 Consumer grading from the Regulator of Social Housing, in recognition of the high-quality homes and services provided to customers.
Martin Warhurst, Chair of the Salix Homes Board, added: “The Salix Way marks the next chapter in the Salix Homes story, building on the progress we’ve made so far.
“As Chair of the Board, I’m proud of how we’ve helped shape this plan, bringing together the insights of Board members, customers and colleagues to create a clear roadmap that will continue driving real impact for our people and communities across Salford.”
The launch of The Salix Way also comes during a significant year for the city, as Salford marks its centenary. In keeping with the ‘100 theme’, we will complete 100 new affordable homes at our new Willohaus development this summer. Built to Passivhaus standards – the gold standard in energy efficiency – these homes reflect our commitment to delivering high-quality, sustainable housing that meets the needs of local people.
