Salix Homes appoints new Executive Director

Salix Homes has appointed a new Executive Director to our leadership team.

We’re pleased to announce Gemma Parlby as our new Executive Director of Customer and Landlord Services, with strategic responsibility across a number of key areas including repairs, housing management, customer services, landlord health and safety and engagement.

Gemma is currently the Group Director of Customer and Communities at housing association Bolton at Home, where she leads a 400-strong team delivering housing and customer services across 20,000 homes in the North West.

Gemma has worked at Bolton at Home for over 20 years, holding a range of senior roles and gaining extensive experience across housing management, tenancy support, safeguarding, customer engagement, and service delivery, always with a strong focus on partnership working with communities.

Gemma said: “I’m really pleased to be joining Salix Homes, an organisation with a strong reputation for putting people at the heart of everything it does, and I look forward to being part of a place-based housing association with a real connection to its communities.

“Delivering services that genuinely meet the needs of customers and communities is something I’m passionate about, and I’m excited to contribute to the positive difference that Salix Homes is making across Salford.”

Salix Homes Chief Executive Liam Turner added: “Gemma brings a wealth of experience and a strong commitment to people-focused housing services. Her leadership will play a key role in helping Salix Homes continue to deliver high-quality homes and services, meet regulatory standards, and support the development of strong, thriving neighbourhoods.

“She shares our values and focus on customers and communities, and we’re confident she’ll be a real asset to the organisation, bringing deep sector knowledge, a strong track record, and a genuine passion for making a difference, and we’re really looking forward to welcoming her to the team.”

Gemma will officially join Salix Homes next month (November).

Last year, Salix Homes became one of the first housing associations in the country to achieve the highest possible C1 grading under the new Consumer Standards in recognition of our high-quality homes and services. This year, 2025, also marks our 10-year anniversary as a stand-alone housing association, following a stock transfer from Salford City Council in 2015. Since then, we have invested £235 million building new homes and improving existing homes and communities.
