A tribute to Eamonn Boylan OBE

Salix Homes has paid tribute to Eamonn Boylan OBE, former Chief Executive of the Greater Manchester Combined Authority (GMCA) who has sadly passed away.

Eamonn devoted more than 40 years to public service, leading GMCA and Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service from 2017, and Transport for Greater Manchester from 2019. He retired from the GMCA in 2024 before going on to serve as Interim Chief Executive at Manchester City Council and at Homes England, continuing his lifelong commitment to improving communities.

Liam Turner, Chief Executive at Salix Homes, said: “Everyone at Salix Homes is deeply saddened by the passing of Eamonn Boylan, and our thoughts are with his family, friends and colleagues at this very difficult time.

“Eamonn was a devoted public servant and a true champion for communities. Through his work at GMCA, Manchester City Council and Homes England, he played an important role in supporting people and neighbourhoods across Greater Manchester, helping to improve opportunities and make a real difference.

“His dedication, leadership and vision have left a lasting legacy for our communities. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and worked alongside him.”

A Book of Condolence has been opened at Manchester Central Library.
