A purrfect rescue: Salix Homes officers save abandoned cats
A routine property inspection turned into a real-life cat-ch and rescue mission for the Salix Homes team.
During a recent inspection, our officers stumbled upon two young cats, living in poor conditions after being abandoned in one of our homes in Salford.
The officers worked tirelessly to make sure the kitties, nick-named Fred and Lil Dude were captured and taken to safety. The first brother, Lil Dude, was quickly caught and went with our animal-loving officers gladly. The other brother, Fred, took a bit more convincing, but after a few days of gaining the trust of our officers, they were thankfully able to capture him too.
Unfortunately, it was difficult to find a rescue that had the capacity to take on the two furry friends until Little Nest Recue came to our aid.
Ellesse Bell, one of Salix Homes’ Housing Officers involved in the rescue mission, said:
“When we discovered the cats had been left behind when the tenants moved out, we knew we had to act quickly to help them. It took a few days and a lot of patience, but we were determined to get them to safety. We’re so grateful to Little Nest Rescue for stepping in when no one else could. They’ve given these boys the second chance they deserve, and we can’t thank them enough for the amazing work they do every day.”
Little Nest Rescue is a registered charity based in Cadishead that offers a safe and loving home to all animals, big and small. They aim to rescue, rehabilitate, foster and rehome their furry residents, and when this isn’t possible, the animals will aways have a safe space for life with Little Nest Rescue.
Leah at Little Nest Rescue, added: “Fred and Lil’ Dude went from surviving to thriving. Every animal we welcome becomes one of our own. We’re there to celebrate their wins, sit with them through the tough days, and help them heal with patience and love.
“It’s all about community – people coming together to give animals the second chance they deserve. Fred and Dude are living proof of that. They came to us scared and unsure, and now they’re growing in confidence and getting the love they deserve. Whilst they are still waiting for their forever someone, every animal that comes through our doors becomes a part of the Little Nest family for life.”
