Local charity scores a big boost to help those in need this winter
Greater Manchester based charity, Two Brews, has received £1,000 from the Salix Homes Springboard Community Fund to help create winter warmer packs for elderly people across Salford.
Two Brews was set up four years ago by a group of friends who recognised the need for extra support for homeless people during the festive period.
The charity aims to support the homeless community by offering free hot food, drinks and essential items seven nights of the week, 365 days of the year, and the Two Brews team have been out and about this winter , helping those most in need.

A tribute to Mike Thorpe
Salix Homes has paid tribute to Mike Thorpe, the Chief Officer of The Broughton Trust, who sadly passed away recently.
Mike played a pivotal role in supporting Salford’s most disadvantaged communities and has made a lasting impact across the city.
The Broughton Trust is a Salford-based charity aimed at reducing poverty and improving opportunities for people in Salford. Under Mike’s leadership, the charity has provided vital services including employment support, youth work and community development projects, supporting over 1,000 people every year.
Salford charity helps unite communities with boost from Salix Homes
Salford Refugee Forum has received much-needed funding of £1,000 thanks to our Springboard Community Fund.
The funding helped the Salford Refugee Forum charity to host a special Black History Month event held at the Beacon Centre in Salford.
The forum is made up of representatives from multiple Salford based community groups that aim to provide help and support to refugees and people seeking asylum in the Salford area. The forum offers services and support to help refugees integrate into the community, and access employment training, translation support and advice.
