2. Supporting people and places to achieve their potential

Staff discussing equality, diversity and inclusionWe recognise that the pandemic has had profound impacts on people and communities across the country.

The pandemic exposed entrenched health and socio-economic inequalities and has disproportionally affected those on low incomes and the most deprived communities.

During the last 12 months we have engaged a wide range of customers to shape the priorities of our Wellbeing Strategy. This has helped us to better understand our customer needs around wellbeing and target where our resources can have the most impact.

Reviewing this feedback by applying demographic insights has highlighted key areas that we need to explore further to better understand how and where we can act to further reduce inequalities, this included a lower satisfaction with property condition from customers who have declared as disabled.

A task force working closely with our Customer Committee will take this work forward.

Over the last year, there have been a number of other positive highlights, including:

- Increasing our customer support fund from £15,000 to £30,000
- Introducing a new Tenancy Sustainment Policy and Procedure
- Developing a vulnerable customer referral process
- Supporting the Greater Manchester Hate Crime Awareness Week.

Our Community Safety Manager also spoke publicly on Salford City Radio to raise awareness about the good work we do to address Hate Crime.
