Our colleagues at Sure have been getting into the Christmas spirit to help others.

Sure have donated 30 bags of food, blankets and gloves to give out to people in need this Christmas.

Sure operatives Donna Dwyer and Vicky Leicester, who are based at Diamond House, are pictured here with some of the goody bags they’ve donated.

The bags will be distributed to elderly and vulnerable people, and those experiencing poverty.

More than £800 has been raised in a charity raffle thanks to generous Salix Homes employees at its recent employee conference

Salix Homes employees raised a total of £819 at the annual event, which this year welcomed Greater Manchester Mayor, Andy Burnham as its guest speaker.

The money raised will go towards Andy Burnham’s Mayor’s Homelessness Fund and the Salford Ceremonial Mayor’s Charity Appeal, which raises money for a range of local causes across the city.

A huge thank you to all Salix employees who bought raffle tickets and helped raise money our #RethinkingHousing Employee Event. By the end of the day we had raised a whopping £819.34.

Some of Salford’s most famous landmarks have been brought to life in a spectacular lantern parade through the streets of Ordsall.

Crowds turned out in force for the Lighting the Legend event which this year celebrated the area’s best-loved buildings.

The iconic Salford Lads Club and Ordsall Hall were transformed into magnificent lanterns, along with some lesser-known community hubs, including Ordsall Community Café, Lindsay’s Shop and the local schools and churches.

Social supermarket opens in Salford

A new social supermarket has opened in Salford.

Lucie’s Pantry was opened by Salford Mayor Paul Dennett this week and aims to provide a sustainable and affordable source of food and household essentials to members of the community struggling to make ends meet through debt, illness or low income.

The facility is based at the Emmaus centre on Fitzwarren Street in Pendleton.
